It’s a memorable and valuable year for me to study MSc(DDM) at HKUST.

The courses in this program are well designed which cover various technology areas including data visualization, numerical modelling, machine learning, etc. Besides that, we also had many chances to work on different team projects, from which I obtained practice experience on solving real-world data problems and I became more confident when making presentations.

Though the program is young, the program put a lot emphasis on our feedback and offered us various chances of having talks with acknowledged experts in data-related areas, which had broadened my horizons greatly.

Despite having obtained one of the most prestigious undergraduate degrees in Hong Kong, I acknowledged the necessity of further enhancing my knowledge and skills to remain competitive in the Financial and Data Science sectors. I therefore embarked on the MSc(DDM) programme, which proved to be a pivotal point in my professional trajectory during my career.

Through this post-graduate programme, I not only deepened my comprehension of Financial Technology, Business Analytics, and Data Science, but also underwent a transformative process that honed my soft skills, moulding me into a more mature, individual, innovative and well-rounded individual.

The MSc(DDM) programme offered the perfect amalgamation of theoretical insight and practical application, enabling me to attain my long-term objectives. Thanks to the exposure gained through the MSc(DDM) programme, I had secured a position as a Statistician in the Hong Kong Government, where I assisted in establishing a precedent for the development of Data Science.

Presently, I am honoured to serve as a Data Scientist at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, where I utilise my expertise to facilitate innovative transformation, digitalization and enhancement of the financial sector. I am immensely grateful for the invaluable guidance and support I received during my MSc(DDM) journey, which played a crucial role in shaping my achievements.
